Exinda Breaks the 5 Gbps Barrier

Add this article to:
Exinda Breaks the 5 Gbps Barrier Link: http://bit.ly/S4Fb5 Article:

Exinda today introduced its largest, most powerful WAN optimization appliance to date, the Exinda 8760. The latest addition to the Exinda appliance line, the 8760 model offers a complete, easy-to-use and cost effective solution for managing bandwidth and improving application performance at the multi-gig level. Supporting over 100,000 users, the new appliance aims to service large education and service provider environments that require additional throughput for multi-gig connections. Designed for high performance networking, the Exinda 8760 appliance allows users to experience a 5 x performance increase over previous offerings and scale from 100 Mbps to 5 Gbps on a single appliance. The 8760 model provides users with full network visibility, control and optimization while remaining simple to use and meeting budgetary restraints.

"The trend is clearly moving towards supporting larger and larger internet links,” Explains Bob Beler, President of Information Systems Group, an Exinda gold partner and value-added reseller operating out of the Chicago area. “Having a visibility and application management solution has helped our network run more efficiently, now we can extend this offering to our larger customers with multi-gig connections. We currently have several customers that have increased their bandwidth beyond 1Gbps and several more that are lined up to do the same in the next 6 months. Gbps connections are now becoming a commonplace in many enterprises networks. It is great that Exinda is able to recognize and address the need for solutions that can scale beyond the 1Gbps barrier, the industry is asking for it.”

As organizations and markets grow into multi-gig environments, networks demand that QoS capabilities grow with it. WAN optimization is critical to ensuring that network performance and usability is not compromised. The Exinda 8760 allows organizations to grow with their network without sacrificing the ease-of-use and affordability one comes to expect from Exinda. The 8760 focuses on providing the best user experience while giving administrators all the tools they need to effectively manage network traffic. Users control the powerful, high performance solution through a single, intuitive graphical user interface (GUI). Wizards assist in the initial set up and configuration of the appliance. The single 2 RU, plug and play appliance gives users the ability view real-time reporting statistics such as number of flows, packets per second rate and the ability to group flows on screen. The Exinda 8760 allows networks to support more users, increase WAN application usage and adapt to changing patterns in network traffic.

No screwdriver is needed to upgrade the 8760 model; the unit is made to be easily upgradable with hot swappable drives and expansion slots.

The new model also allows Exinda to expand its reach and compete in new global markets and industry verticals previously left without an affordable option for a WAN optimization product with multi-gig support. Resellers will find that the new appliance and Exinda’s 100% channel strategy makes it a great alternative to higher priced solutions and an ideal fit for cost conscious customers needing multi-gig support without the expensive price tag.

“Introducing a 5 gig appliance is huge for our channel partners,” Explains Ed Ryan, Exinda Vice President of Products. “Not only can partners satisfy their existing customer’s needs, but it allows them to fill in a gap in their product portfolio and compete against vendor’s such as BlueCoat’s PacketShaper appliance line, who’s largest license is only 1 Gbps and supports only about 750 Mbps worth of traffic. This model is a game changer for our partners”

Exinda will be featuring the Exinda 8760 at the Educause Annual Conference in Denver, CO November 3-5. Stop by booth 973 to see the 8760 model in action.

Exinda version 5.2 delivers enhanced Microsoft Active Directory integration and advanced caching and acceleration for Microsoft Exchange, Outlook and other critical applications

Exinda Inc., a global provider of WAN optimization and application acceleration solutions, today announced the availability of Exinda EXOS version 5.2. The new appliance firmware features an enhanced acceleration engine that adds support for MAPI and dramatically improves response times for critical business applications such as Microsoft Exchange and Outlook. The latest firmware also provides enhanced Microsoft Active Directory integration that gives Microsoft customers deep visibility into network activity and bandwidth utilization down to the individual user level.

“Exinda 5.2 offers a unique value proposition for customers with Microsoft environments,” said Ed Ryan, Vice President of Products, Exinda Inc. “Exinda’s integration with Microsoft Active Directory monitors network activity by users and user group in real-time, giving network administrators the power to instantly identify and take action against unwanted file downloads or bandwidth-intensive applications like streaming audio. Rich monitoring and reporting gives administrators greater flexibility and control over network resources including the ability to easily allocate bandwidth to users and user groups. In addition, Exinda’s caching and MAPI acceleration can result in an up to 95% data reduction on both client and server for customers running Microsoft Exchange and Outlook. The benefit is more efficient bandwidth utilization and faster response times for email users.”

“We were impressed with the caching and MAPI acceleration capabilities in the Beta version of Exinda 5.2,” said Jonathan Aldred, Group IT Infrastructure Manager, R&R, a major player in the European ice cream market. “By removing redundant data from our network, Exinda’s advanced caching enabled us to achieve measurable improvements in application response times. Moreover, Exinda’s integration with Microsoft Active Directory allows us to easily associate a username or user group to each and every data conversation on our network. With Exinda, we now have the ability to monitor and report on network usage at a granular user level. This visibility empowers us to take appropriate actions to optimize our network, control peer-to-peer and recreational Internet traffic and ensure application performance.”

In addition to performance and visibility enhancements, Exinda 5.2 includes new features that make the Exinda WAN optimization appliance faster to deploy and easier to manage. Usability enhancements include auto-licensing, alerts and warnings to rapidly troubleshoot network issues and a new “Find my Exinda” feature that automatically identifies all Exinda appliances on the network even if the IP is dynamically assigned. These enhancements are part of Exinda’s ongoing commitment to make the plug-and-play Exinda appliance as easy to use and as low-touch as possible.

Exinda version 5.1 provides feature-rich, user-centric WAN optimization that delivers high value and ease of use

April 22, 2009─Toronto, ON─Exinda Inc., a leading global provider of WAN optimization and application acceleration solutions, today announced the availability of Exinda version 5.1 featuring Microsoft Active Directory integration. By leveraging the user information stored in Active Directory, Exinda customers gain greater visibility into network usage by relating an Active Directory username or user group to each data conversation on the network. With this information readily available, network administrators can take appropriate actions to ensure acceptable application performance for users and user-groups and can easily trouble-shoot network bottlenecks.

"By integrating with Active Directory, Exinda delivers something unique to the market," said Ed Ryan, Vice President of Products, Exinda. "Network administrators have far more flexibility and control over network resources when they can readily see and track resource usage at a granular level. Armed with this information, the network can be fine-tuned to meet the business needs of individual users and groups, network resources can be allocated more appropriately and excessive users of network bandwidth can be quickly identified."

"We looked at several WAN optimization solutions and choose Exinda because of its superior visibility, control and optimization functionality, particularly with Active Directory integration," comments Jeff King, Systems Administrator, The Expo Group. "Other products that we considered would monitor usage and optimize applications by IP address. We use DHCP, making IP-centric WAN optimization products valueless because our users and network devices are assigned IP addresses dynamically. Exinda version 5.1 supports our environment and makes WAN optimization very straight-forward."

In addition to Microsoft Active Directory integration, Exinda 5.1 includes a number of usability enhancements that make it ideal for organizations requiring a comprehensive and tightly integrated WAN optimization solution. A Simplified User Interface is now available as an option for appliance management and reporting. This simplified view includes a performance dashboard, benefits report and guided configuration wizard.

"As a channel partner, we see the value that Exinda delivers to our customers every day,” said Kevan Paul, Senior Engineer, NLE. “The enhancements in version 5.1 show Exinda’s commitment to delivering a solution that is both feature-rich and user-friendly. The Active Directory integration worked flawlessly and expands the reporting to an even greater level of detail. We see significant market opportunity with this new product release and look forward to delivering this great value to our customers."

Higher Education Act of 2008 Calls for Bandwidth Management and Traffic Shaping Technology to Prevent Illegal Peer-to-Peer File Sharing

September 4, 2008─Boston─A recent update to the Higher Education Act of 1965 requires universities to have a plan to combat the illegal downloading of music, videos and other copyrighted works on college campus networks. The new law calls for universities to consider the use of technology-based deterrents such as bandwidth shaping and traffic monitoring technology to prevent illegal peer-to-peer file sharing. Exinda Networks has helped a wide variety of educational institutions worldwide to implement bandwidth shaping and traffic monitoring solutions since 2002.

The U.S. Department of Education (DOE) will be writing the rules to implement this legislation. The DOE will host several regional meetings over the next few months to gather input on the rule making. In the interim, universities are required to make a good faith effort to comply with the new law.

“While illegal downloads of music and videos on college campuses has been an issue for quite some time, the new law brings this issue to the forefront,” said Con Nikolouzakis, Exinda’s chief executive officer. “Exinda’s core strengths in network monitoring, bandwidth management and traffic shaping have enabled us to help a wide variety of educational institutions long before this law. Not only can our solutions prevent illegal peer-to-peer file sharing, they improve the performance of Internet traffic and save universities money by making the most efficient use of the schools’ bandwidth links.”

Exinda Networks offers free, no risk trials of its bandwidth management and traffic shaping appliances. Exinda also hosts free Webinars for universities’ IT professionals to become familiar with bandwidth shaping and traffic management solutions.
